2026 Tour de Fleece Spins
Materials:
Wheels:
Ashford E-Spinner 3 – planning to do four batt projects
Ashford Traveler (traditional wheel) – the plan for this wheel keeps changing, but I think I’ve landed on doing a single braid three-ply two ways project
Fiber: See below for descriptions of the individual projects I’ll be doing and the fibers I’ll be using.
Details:
7/4 – 7/5:
Batt Spin #1 (e-spinner)
(Pictures 1-4, starting from the end of the gallery)
G-Cat and Pi batt paired with a random batt I made at some point. 1 ply of the G-Cat and 2 plies of the OOAK.
45 wraps; 45 gr./ 1.6 oz.; 75 yd. unsoaked; xx yd. soaked
G-Cat remainder, chainplied
3.5 wraps; 4 gr./ .2 oz.; 5.5 yd. unsoaked; xx yd. soaked
Also on 7/4, on my Traveler I started a 50/50 Black Alpaca/Silk braid that I’ve had forever from Dyeabolical. I didn’t get far into it before I realized I was not going to enjoy it. Something about the alpaca was really bothersome for my hands. 🙁
7/6 – 12 :
Batt Spin #2 (e-spinner)
(Pictures 5- 8, starting from the end of the gallery)
KnitSpinFarm Club Batt from Oct 2018, Crab Apple Tree that will be paired with a set of battlings from Hobbledehoy, Golden Snitch colors. This will be a two-ply.
194 wraps; 148 gr./ 5.2 oz.; 323 yd. unsoaked; xx yd. soaked
Leftover Hobbldeyhoy — chainplied
8 wraps; 9 gr./ .3 oz.; 13 yd. unsoaked; xx yd. soaked
7/13-7/19
Batt Spin #3 (e-spinner)
(Pictures 9 – 21, starting from the end of the gallery.)
KnitSpinFarm Club Batt Nov 2018, Plumage (2.6 oz) paired with another set of Hobbledehoy battlings, Alnwick Castle (2.4 oz). I deconstructed the KSF batt into its three colors (picture #12) and am spinning them in order of white, blue, black. I’ll ply starting at the black end so white will be leftover. There was a LOT of white, but it looks really cool because it’s heathered with sari silk and metallic stuff.
Main skein: 252 wraps; 128 gr./ 4.3 oz.; 420 yd. unsoaked; xx yd. soaked
(Wraps by KSF color: 133 white, 68 blue, 51 black)
Leftover white KSF chainplied
31 wraps; 21 gr./ .7 oz.; 51 yd. unsoaked; xx yd. soaked
(=155 yd singles)

7/20 –
Batt Spin #4 (e-spinner)
Knit Spin Farm club batt, Dec. 2018, Winter Wreaths and an unnamed, primarily bright pink bat from The Spinner’s Stash. My plan for this one is to spin these on one bobbin, alternating a strip of KSF and a strip of TSS throughout, then chain-plying to get a striping yarn.
7/20 – I was going to start today, however upon waking up, I realized that I really overdid it yesterday with plying so long. My middle back and neck muscles are not happy. So instead, since it’s technically a rest day for TdF, I prepped the two batts, separating them each into 8 segment, each of which I will split either into two or three more segments as I work through them. Hopefully I’ll feel better and can start spinning tomorrow.
Skein 1 – 2 segments each batt, each divided in half, so there are 8 alternated segments. Unfortunately there was so much clumped angelina in the TSS batt that I decided to call it as far as the striping plan because the two batts were just too incompatible and I couldn’t imagine what I’d use the yarn for. I did chain ply what is spun though:
44 wraps; 42 gr./ 1.5 oz.; 73 yd. unsoaked; xx yd. soaked
Skein 2 – remaining KSF chain plied
xx wraps; xx gr./ xx oz.; xx yd. unsoaked; xx yd. soaked
Skein 3 – remaining TSS with a LOT of the clumpy, sparkly stuff removed, chain plied
xx wraps; xx gr./ xx oz.; xx yd. unsoaked; xx yd. soaked
xx wraps; xx gr./ xx oz.; xx yd. unsoaked; xx yd. soaked
