5/14 – I’ve done two repeats of Chart A. I’m not sure if I was supposed to do two repeats, but there were two different end of chart stitch counts, which makes it look like you could opt to do it twice, but I couldn’t find any explanation about that in any of the written instructions (maybe I missed it?), so I just took my chances since I wasn’t very far into the gradient when I finished the first chart repeat. After two repeats, I’m at the start of the fourth of seven color segments. Fingers crossed I have enough yarn to get through the remaining two charts. We’ll see! Regardless, so far it’s been a very enjoyable knit.
5/29 – I’m not sure where my brain was, but the two stitch counts for the first chart were for the small and large versions of the shawl, which seems pretty clear to me now. I was assuming to make the small but did the first chart twice (which was for the large), thus I ended up modifying my use of the second chart (B, small version) to make it work, and then went on the chart C, which I also needed to modify where I started in it to match up with how B ended for me, but it all worked out.
I did run out of yarn towards the end of the return row 7 rows from the end of the chart. I broke into the same color in a second gradient and opted to not do the last 6 rows of the chart. I started the icord bind off but after an inch I felt like it was going to be too bulky for what is otherwise a drapey lace fabric, so I ripped it back and did two rows of knit stitch for a garter ridge and then just bound off normally. It gives a similar look as an icord bind off but isn’t as bulky.
Need to block.
6/5 – Blocked out beautifully! I’m so happy with it, even with my unintentional size modification. LOL
