Block Stitch Blocks

I was tired and didn’t want to work on any of my actual projects one night, and I just wanted to crochet. Rather than start another of my default Fair Weather Cowls, I decided to try making blocks using the same block stitch that the FWC uses.

I chained on 25 and am doing 8 clusters of 3 DC. I’m doing them 6 rows high, ending on the DC rows. So they’re rectangles, not squares. I’m guessing I’ll end up making a blanket of some sort with them. So they’re blanket…rectangles. :}

I’m using my semi-solid fingering weight leftovers held double for this project, starting with the blues. I still need to weigh to get an idea of how much yarn they each are using.

I don’t know what it is about this pattern that scratches such an itch for me, but I really do enjoy it. And while the blocks seem kind of bulky when I’m the process of making them, they feel really nice and lay very flat when they’re done.

No idea about how I’ll join them or anything else. I’m just making the blocks with no real plan for them. We’ve been on this ride before, though, and eventually it’ll come together into something! LOL

3/1 – I guess I’m just going to keep making blocks with no actual purpose, because I’m enjoying making them and I am happy to be using my leftovers this way. I’m sort of envisioning a gradient shifting rainbow kind of blanket maybe? :thinking_face:

3/15 – I’m up to 22 blocks. I also sat the other day and wove in all of my loose ends, which I think I’m going to try and do as I go at this point. Still no real good vision of what I’ll do with this, but the blocks are enough of an end for the time being, especially since my attention level at this point in my surgery recovery, is so incredibly spotty.

4/5 – 42 blocks. Still no idea where it’s going, but I’m having fun!
