Cherry Berry Dusk Scarf
Materials:
Yarn: CeCe’s Wool, Yarn Baby – Berries & Cream, Cherries Jubilee, Dusk colorways. I had 560 yards/210 grams of each colorway to begin with, having split those in half back in 2020 when I first bought the yarn and started another project that I ended up frogging.
Loom: Ashford 10″ SampleIt rigid heddle loom; 12.5 dent heddle

5/6 – So, I bought this yarn back in 2020 when all of the shows went virtual, including Maryland Sheep & Wool. I bought it with the intention of doing a fade in a summer top, and I did start a Summer Shandy with it, but I didn’t get very far in when I quit, not loving it.
I do like the yarn, though at this point I’m really not sure which color is Dusk and which is Cherries Jubilee, as they are very similar. But I do know I have all but a few grams of Cherries and the Berries and Cream color, so I’m just working backwards yardage/grams-wise and I should be pretty close. Also, my skeins were only the 560 yard skeins, not the full “yarn baby” huge skeins.
I warped equal segments of each color (20 slots each) using my 12.5 dent heddle. I went lightest to darkest (though again, you can’t really see a lot of difference between the two darker ones). Warping took approximately 14 grams/78 yards of each color.
My plan for the weft is to use what’s left of each ball I used for the warp. (I’d already divided the yarn I had into half balls, which would technically be quarter balls of the larger yarn baby quantities, but for the sake of not being confusing, I’m just going to call them half balls, because they are half of what I had to start with), so I’m working with the rest of the first Berries and Cream half right now. I don’t know how far that will go, but when I run out, I will either go on to the next color, or I may dip into the other half ball of this color and just use it for the entire weft. I’ll definitely have more yarn than I need for this project, and I’ll eventually do another.
5/13 – I finished the weaving yesterday. I’m super happy with how this turned out. It’s quite long, over 6′.
I did end up doing all of the weft using the Berries & Cream.
I still need to soak it and finish the fringe/deal with the few ends I have in the underside. I also need to figure out final yardage, though the final weight was 130 gr with 6 grams of waste from the rear warp stick.
I think I’ll hang into it and take it to my show and see if it sells.
5/18 – I soaked the shawl, trimmed the couple of ends as well as the fringe. This yarn bloomed SO beautifully in the soaking process and the scarf is amazingly soft! I still need to take the glamour shots of it, but I do love it! And I also need to figure out the finished yardage used, but I have plenty of yarn left to make a fraternal twin.
