Hook: G (4 mm)

Pattern: Fair Weather Cowl by Jennifer Dickerson/Fiber Flux (video tutorial on YouTube here)

Details:

I saw this on Jennifer’s YouTube channel and wanted to give it a try since it’s a little different than the usual granny stitch things I gravitate towards (though it does feel similar to the other cowl of hers that I made a year or so ago that I think is in a pile to be ripped out since I made so many mistakes in it. LOL)

It called for sport weight and I knew I had this ball of Deep Fall in stash. Since I used it for a sample, I only have 93 grams, but I’m hoping that’ll be enough to make the cowl. We’ll see!

8/7 – Finished this last night. I had one last orange stripe worth of yarn left, but it wasn’t enough to do the two rows of have needed to do to finish on row 2. Colorwise, ending on the purple worked well because that was the color I started with.

It’s definitely a snugger cowl than the sample in the pattern, but I’m pretty sure that one used 2 skeins of yarn. I’m happy with how this one fits though. It’s close but not tight. It ended up being about 24″ in circumference, which is an inch and a half shorter than I’d estimated based on the yardage I had, but again, I didn’t use it all. I could probably block it out and get a little more length in the circumference, but I don’t feel the need.

I’m really pleased with how the self-striping looks in crochet!
