—————

I’ve kept on of my BFL countdown sets to spin through December. Planning to begin on 12/1.

My plan is to alternate colors as I go and then chain ply for a self-striping type of progression. I’ll split each day into 3 sections, and alternate two at a time, moving through them for a progressing striping effect, saving part of Day 1 to alternate with Day 24 to circle back around. This works in my brain, anyway. :}

12/14 – Finished with days 1-12, which are all on one bobbin. Am spinning the other half on a second bobbin.

First picture shows the end of the first bobbin in the green/yellow phase of the progression. The second picture was earlier on.

12/19 – Finishing up day 16. Second bobbin of pictured mostly with days 14-16 visible, as well as a little bit of 13 visible near the close end of the bobbin.

12/25 – Spinning on Christmas and only up to days 18/19, I think? :joy: Good thing I started early!

1/6/25 – I finished spinning the second bobbin of singles on New Year’s Eve day and started plying on New Year’s Day. It took 3 days to chain ply both bobbins…I did the first bobbin all in one day but then had a good knot in the back of my right neck/shoulder, so I spaced out the second bobbin to give it a break.

Final stats:

Days 1-12, chainplied
195 wraps; 122 gr./4.3 oz.; 325 yd. unsoaked; yd. soaked

Days 13-24, chainplied
208 wraps; 133 gr./4.8 oz.; 367 yd. unsoaked; yd. soaked

Total yardage, unsoaked but calculated with a 10% loss = 623 yd/255 gr

I haven’t soaked the yarn yet, but I’m calculating my finished yardage at a 10% loss since that’s usually what I end up with compared to when it’s just off the wheel.
