Details:
The pattern I used as a guide was the Granny Stripe Market Bag by CrochetbyCatUK on Etsy. I cannot find that pattern listed here in the Rav library.
I started this as a quick palate cleanser. It’s not going so fast, but that’s because I didn’t follow directions right (argh) and it’s way bigger, I think, than it should be even though I did extra repeats to account for using a lighter weight yarn. I dunno. It’ll get done eventually.
I started out on a G hook but went down to an F at some point, on purpose. LOL
Using a lot of leftovers of DK.
The pattern is from CraftedbyCatUK on Etsy. I can’t find the pattern here on Rav.
6/25 – I’m maybe halfway through the body of the bag? It’s hard to tell because it’s big enough to hold a freaking whale. I have done three decrease rounds at this point, which I keep thinking should be making it look smaller than it is looking but it is absolutely NOT. Using lots of leftovers though! LOL
6/30 – Finished. SO BIG. LOL I did do at least two or three more decrease rounds, including in the round prior to doing the first round of handle SCs.
I modified the handle directions so that I worked them larger and kind of the way described in the pattern, but then I also worked a few rounds on the inside of the handle loops so that that part of the band would end up being the same size as the area between the handles.
It weighs a whopping 396 grams, and that is all DK-weight leftovers out of my stash. Huzzah! (I have it listed as Bona Fide up above, but it’s a mix of Bona Fide and Strong DK, as well as probably some Cozy worsted.)
I included the second picture, which I used as my cover shot for my most recent podcast, as a way to convey scale — the bag basically shoved me out of the picture. LOL
