7/18 – I wanted to make Emma’s friend Heaven a pair of socks for their birthday in September. Provide I thought I’d dye some Inversibles for them, but then I remembered I had this skein left from knitting the colorway sample, and I asked Emma if she thought they’d like it. I was pretty sure they would. Emma concurred.
I cast on 60 stitches and am probably just doing my usual 2×1 rib, unless I decide to get fancy at some point, but for their first pair of handknit socks, plain rib seems like a good choice. I need to see if I have a contrasting mini I can use for heels/toes. Though I might just use the main colorway for everything since it’s pi and color management isn’t as big a deal. We’ll see!
7/28 – Cuff is 5.5″ before starting heel flap.
8/5 – First sock is done. Second is started.
8/19 – Done! Despite both measuring and counting rounds, I managed to make the cuff of the second sock slightly shorter than the first, maybe by 2-3 rounds tops. Sigh. The second sock weights 3 grams less than the first. I’m hoping it isn’t overly obvious or annoying when they’re on Heaven’s feet.
