3/4 – After my finishing success last fall with the Haunted House MKAL, I’m giving this one a try. Let’s see how it goes! (Honestly, I bought the pattern shortly after the MKAL was announced and then promptly forgot about it. I didn’t remember about it until today when I was watching the A Stitch in Time podcast and Carol talked about the yarn she’d chosen for it. Oops! Thanks, Carol!)
I’m doing this with all leftovers of my Mountain Tweed BFL in the following colors/amounts I have on hand, which should be more than enough (second picture, starting at the top and going clockwise):
C1 – Merlot (43 grams)
C2 – Soft Black (51 grams)
C3 – Warm Honey (56 grams)
C4 – Plain Vanilla (34 grams)
C5 – Antique Mauve (32 grams)
I really would have preferred to do blues for C1 and C5, but I didn’t have enough on hand and didn’t want to dye any specifically for this project, so Merlot and Antique Mauve it is!
First clue comes out on Wed., 3/6!
3/13 – First clue ended up coming out a day early, and I did start working on it early as well. Was NOT a fan of the Garland increase stitch, found it very fiddly (the WS row of it, anyway). I finally switched to ChaiGoo needles for a sharper point, which did help, but the KYOK stitches really need to be done suuuuuper loose to be able to get the needle tip into all three on the WS row. Desperately hoping this stitch isn’t repeated later in the cowl. :} But I did finish Clue 1 before Clue 2 came out yesterday, also a day early. It looks like it’ll have its own fiddliness to it, but I haven’t started it yet.
3/22 – I’ve decided to drop out of this MKAL and frog what I’ve done so far. It’s not bringing me enough joy to work on. I am curious to see what the final object will look like though!
