Craft Category:
Start Date: July 13, 2025

Materials:

Yarn: Fibernymph Dye Works Bounce in Sunshine Yellow, Sea Blue, and Skerrie Greige (these were leftovers from the Summer Gnomes minis…I didn’t weight the yarn to see how much I used, but each square really only uses a few grams)

Hook: D

Pattern: I followed the video tutorial found on the Emma C Makes YouTube channel:

Details:

I saw this video tutorial and wanted to give it a try, mainly because I was interested in the join as you go technique the designer used. So I made the coaster, putting a single crochet border on it.

Then when I couldn’t sleep that night, my brain wondered how it would work with hexis instead of squares, so i got up and made 6 hexis. I should have increased the corner chains from 2 to 3 though, because it doesn’t lay very flat. However, if I make a 7th hexi, I can turn it into a ball. I think. Gonna try!

Later…nope. That won’t work. I’d actually need to make a whole second one of these 7 piece hexi things and then put THOSE together to make something vaguely round. Will I do that? Maaayyyybbeeee? Leaving this open as a WIP for now. (Also need to take a picture of the hexi thing to add here.)
