Spinning on my Schact Sidekick
Details:
3/11/24 – Having finished all of my FDW fibers I’d pulled out last summer to spin, I decided on a quick(ish) palate cleanser project. I’ve had this bump in stash for yearrrrs. I don’t recall if I bought it from her online or at MDSW/Rhinebeck (but the card says I paid $44 for it), but it definitely has been around for a while. It’s one of my last two remaining LOOP BBs I have, and my favorite of the two – black and pink, definitely my colors!
I’m spinning the singles on my Sidekick. I’m not sure yet if I’ll chainply it, leave it as a singles, or maybe dye some black to spin up and ply with it to extend yardage. We’ll see how it goes.
3/23 – I’m nearing the end of this bump, and I am really happy with how it’s been spinning up. Sometimes bullseye bumps that have sat around in stash for a long time get sort of felty, but this one has drafted pretty nicely.
I’m planning to chain ply it for a nice color progression skein.
4/1 – Finished!I ended up chain-plying and got approx. 375 yards. Once soaked, it’ll probably be closer to 325, and I’m guessing a worsted weight as it is 150 grams.
My Sidekick driveband needs to be replaced, and I had a bit of a struggle finishing up the plying, but I did get it done!
(Still need a picture of the skein, and it needs to be soaked.)
