I took this with me to Florida but never got it started. After all of the chaos on my trip home, once I finally made it back, I decided to treat myself to some new cast ons.
I’m really enjoying the pattern so far. I’m in section 5. I’ve found that some parts require more attention than I can muster while I’m watching tv — I’ve had to do some ripping a couple times to fix errors. The plus of this yarn though is that it’s sticky and doesn’t run when you rip back. LOL The varied textures in this pattern are really delighting me at the moment.
First picture taken while I was having a nesting in bed morning because I wasn’t feeling good. Fellowship of the Ring was on the tv and I had coffee on the nightstand. Best medicine. :two_hearts:
6/2 – Worked on this the whole way down to retrieve my car and back. Got to the bind off and lost at yarn chicken. I was pretty sure this would happen. The third from the last section — the second slipped stitch section — was very long, and I did shorten it by one repeat, I believe, but then I had to do the next garter stripe section very short and then had enough yarn to only do maybe five garter ridges. The ending part of the shawl, not including the bindoff, just looks unbalanced.
My plan is to rip back to halfway through the slipped stitch section, work the garter rows section (probably abbreviated) and then do enough garter to make it look ok, and finish with a regular bind off because I am not loving the picot edge. I’d really like to have enough yarn for tassels, but even making these adjustments, I’m doubtful that will happen. We’ll see.
