10/18 – Pulled out one of my weaving project bags of yarn that I put together a couple years ago.
I’m using my 24″ loom so that I can make a 12″ finished width. (I used 52 slots for 104 ends.) I warped my 7.5 dent heddle with fingering weight and weft will be DK for a weft-faced fabric. I warped in the dining room table lengthwise, so my warp is roughly 5 ft…ish?
11/11 – After leaving this sit pretty much since the weekend I started it, I finished it up this weekend. I forgot how short it was. LOL Turns out the warp was a little shorter than I estimated, about 56″. The fabric is 35″ long and 11.5″ wide (which is also .5″ narrower than I was going for, so I’ll make a mental note for myself on adjusting if I truly want it wider).
The final weight is 114 grams, which means I used 54 grams of DK weight weft yarn.
This piece isn’t something I’ll put in the shop…I don’t feel the quality is high enough for that, as the beginning edge ended up being kind of wonky. But I’m going to use it to practice with my fringe twister, which my mom gave me last year for Christmas but then I never used yet.
In all, I’m considering this a) a good use of yarn leftovers, and b) a continued practice piece for my weaving skills. And it’s bright and pretty, much welcomed at this point. I think it might end up going out on the table in the porch room unless I think of a better use for it.
Still needs soaked and blocked and ends dealt with.
